The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc. is dedicated to children who live with type 1 diabetes and the people who care for them. Our programs offer fun, recreation, diabetes education, and support. Programs include the Clara Barton resident camp for girls in North Oxford, MA; Camp Joslin resident camp for boys in Charlton, MA; a one-week coed resident program held at Clara Barton Camp, coed Day Camps in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York; coed Adventure Programs; coed Vermont Overnight Camp; and year-round programs including family programs. Days are filled with sports activities, swimming, arts and crafts, talent shows, campfires, combined dances for the two resident camps, diabetes education game shows, boating, hiking, and so much more. Children share the triumphs and tribulations of living with diabetes, and they no longer feel different or alone. Many campers return year after year. The staff includes a team of health care professionals. Our well-trained, hardworking counselors serve as wonderful role models, as most have type 1 diabetes themselves and were Barton campers when they were younger. The deep friendships our campers make with each other last a lifetime.
