    We suspect many of you, like us, have been following the events dominating the news concerning the global and local impact of coronavirus (COVID-19). First and foremost, know that Camp Kudzu continues to closely monitor the situation, specifically as it relates to upcoming programs. We are looking to information released by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Diabetes Association (ADA), and the American Camp Association (ACA) for guidance.     Hang 10! Surfing Program at Tybee Island

    • Dates: January 01, 1900 to January 01, 1900
    • Audience: Families of Youth & Teen
    • Program Type: Event - Part or Full Day

    Come Hang 10! At Tybee Island with the instructors of Tybee Surf Lessons as we get a chance to catch a wave with kids like you! Learn how to surf with a 15-20-minute ground lesson and the remainder of the time in the water on a surfboard. Snack and water included. Families are encouraged to make a day out of this opportunity and stay at the beach before or after their session time. Medical volunteers will be on-site to help manage children’s diabetic needs during the program.

    Camp Kudzu Teen Winter Retreat at Camp Twin Lakes

    Being a teenager can be complicated, and type 1 diabetes doesn’t make it any easier. Camp Kudzu’s Teen Retreat was created to foster independence and community among our older campers (ages 13-18). During this session, we focus on hard-hitting topics related to being a teen living with type 1 diabetes. This weekend provides time for campers to strengthen relationships made during summer camp with a smaller group of peers while exploring the diabetes-related challenges that they likely face every day.

    Camp Kudzu Spring Family Camp at Camp Twin Lakes

    • Dates: April 17, 2020 to April 19, 2020
    • Audience: Families of Youth & Teen
    • Program Type: Overnight Camp

    Diabetes affects the whole family, and our Family Camps are for the whole family. No child or infant is too young, and no teen is too old. We believe it is empowering when families come together to learn more about diabetes and share their common experiences in a supportive setting. Each camp session takes place at Camp Twin Lakes, in Rutledge, Georgia, about 55 miles east of downtown Atlanta. It starts in the early evening (6:30 p.m.) on Friday and concludes before lunch on Sunday. The weekend includes workshops on diabetes and activities for everyone, including “drop-ins,” where your family can choose what you want to do.

    Teen Adventure Campers 7th-11th Grade

    We aren’t like a trip to the endo’s office, but we have endocrinologists, RNs, physician assistants, and dieticians there. We aren’t a classroom of lectures and chalkboard diagrams, but we have education woven into camp with impromptu learnings during activities, meal time, and casual conversations. We are a community dedicated to the learning and growth of our campers living with type 1 diabetes. The encouragement campers get from their peers and staff members do more for their independence than any formal attempts do. Campers will tell you it’s their favorite week of the year.

    Junior Counselor Training Week at Camp High Harbour

    • Dates: May 26, 2020 to May 30, 2020

    • Program Type: Overnight Camp

    The Junior Counselor applications open in late fall and must be completed by the end of the following January. We will hold in-person group interviews in early spring. Special arrangements may be made for out-of-town applicants to conduct interviews via SparkHire. The Junior Counselor applications will open on December 3, 2019. Applications AND References must be turned in no later than January 31, 2020. In-person group interviews will be held on February 22 & 23, 2020. Potential JCs will choose one of the group interview dates to attend. We aren’t a classroom of lectures and chalkboard diagrams, but we have education woven into camp with impromptu learnings during activities, meal time, and casual conversations. We are a community dedicated to the learning and growth of our campers living with type 1 diabetes. The encouragement campers get from their peers and staff members do more for their independence than any formal attempts do. Campers will tell you it’s their favorite week of the year.

    • Program Type: Day Camp - Multi Days

    Sprouts Day Camp is a place where young campers living with type 1 diabetes can learn more about their disease, meet other children who have similar healthcare needs and simply have fun. Campers ages 5-9 years old are eligible to attend?our five-day day camp program. Campers arrive at approximately 9:00 am and are picked-up at 4:00 pm each day.
